Company

Our client, a well-known Fine Wine and Champagne Distributor based in Champagne, owning two prestigious Champagne brands, is looking for an Export Manager for the UK, Nordic Countries and Asia (excluding Japan).

Duties and Responsibilities

The Export Manager will report to the Export Director and the Chief Operating Officer of Sales and Marketing, and work closely with :

  • The Director of Operations and Quality

  • The Customer Service assistants and the planning manager

  • The Marketing and Communication Director and his team

  • The Company Brands’ Director of Management, Finance and Logistics, and his team, to whom the administrative, financial, management control and human resources management of the brand are sub-contracted.

The Export manager will be responsible for the development of the assigned markets and the company’s distributors network expansion. He/she will be actively involved in research of marketing strategies to enhance sales development and branding. As an Export manager, you will be asked to provide strategic advice on all international export requirements, including the duty-free policy.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Liaising with the Senior Management Team to plan and implement export strategies and objectives within the defined markets,

  • Monitor, analyse and report on activities, sales trends and results, and/or key accounts,

  • Personally negotiate the annual agreements with the assigned distributors and monitor the agreements within the rest of the entrusted area.

  • Negotiate the marketing and communication plans within the key markets in liaise with the Marketing Team and and other parties involved.

  • Optimize promotional and advertising investments in the covered area, according to the company’s priorities.

 
  • Liaise with the Marketing Team to ensure that an assigned PR agency operating on targeted markets is followed up and is functioning properly.

  • Perform the market research to identify the distribution opportunities (retail, sales, wholesale) and manage customer profiles.

  • Monitor changes in strategies of wholesale distributors and international brands to provide a strategic advice to the Managing team on the market trends and opportunities.

  • Share with other teams on the possible export opportunities that may be seized on the other markets.

  • Report regularly to the Senior Managing team

Key skills and qualifications

The candidate has a background with Sales and a proven experience in Wine & Spirits Export sales or marketing. The ideal candidate has an experience in leading networks of importers and distributors on the European markets, particularly in the UK, and is :

  • Fluent in English (native speaker preferably), having some knowledge of French.

  • Excellent communication skills: an active listener and confident communicator,

  • Critical thinker, able to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Proactive, confident and dynamic personality.
